HLOCF Community Dinner Theatre Presents

“Leaving Iowa”

The Heron Lake-Okabena Community Foundation has set Saturday, November 8, 2008 for the annual Community Dinner Theatre. The play selected this year by director Mari Nielson is “Leaving Iowa”.  Leaving Iowa is a sentimental comedy that speaks to everyone who ever had to endure the family car vacation to some vague and uninteresting historical sight with a well-meaning but naive father. Please join us for a humorous entertaining evening.

The foundation board would like to once again recognize all veterans. To show our appreciation for serving our country and the sacrifices you have made we are giving a reduced rate for the event and all veterans will be honored during intermission.

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a roast beef dinner at 6 p.m. served by Chris Schmitz Catering. The curtains for the play will go up at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased at the SSC High School Office, SSC Elementary Office or from Foundation Board members.  Ticket cost is $20 for adults, $15 for veterans, $10 for youth K -6thPlease Purchase tickets by Monday, November 3, 2008.  Board members are: Becky Cselovszki, Cindy Owen, Jackie Baumgard, Mitz Diemer, Collette Diemer, Julie Ann Volk, Barb Post, Harvey Kruger, John Hay, and Jim Schneider.

The mission of the Heron Lake-Okabena Foundation is “to improve communities so that all our residents can enjoy economic self-sufficiency and fully participate in their communities.” The foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. All funds raised from the dinner theatre will be placed in the endowment fund.  We have awarded over $10,000 in grants to our communities.
